“I want to purchase the copyright to my photos.”

More than likely you don’t need to purchase the copyright for your photos.  You probably only need commercial licensing if it’s for business use.  If it’s for private use (you are only printing off copies for family and for around the house and what not) than you only need a printing license.  Copyright is essentially the ownership of the photos.  If you own the copyright you are taking away the rights of the photographer to claim they were the ones who captured the photo where they can financially benefit from their photographic creation.  What does all of this mean to you?  

Here at Alimond Studio, our headshots include an indefinite commercial license which allows you to use your headshots for your own business use.  You don’t have to worry about coming back to our studio to be able to use them in an ad or to upload on your LinkedIn page.  If you decide to use them on your business cards, flyers, websites, email signature, publication, whatever!  You are purchasing that right to do so.  

There have been some instances where clients will want to purchase the full copyrights to the photos, and in those cases we can fulfill those requests.  Essentially in those cases, you fully own the rights to those photos where you are free to sell the photos to another party and financially make money directly from the photos.  

We have always set out to provide a service/product that will fit for our clients needs.  We have found that having a commercial license which allows you to use your photos in your own marketing material is what 95% of what our clients need.
